My month started with a lukewarm shower. I was grumpy about that, so like a dutiful husband does, Aaron went out to check the water heater. It had rusted out and flooded the area.
Quinn turned 3. Do you think I overcompensated for not making Enoch a cake at all?
She also potty trained! I decided I was at a point where I'd rather wash poopy panties and feel like we were on the road to progress, than keep changing diapers. It only took her a week. Candy is a wonderful motivator.
Her quote for the month: "You know what love is? Love is when you poop on the toilet and you get a big chocolate candy bar."
I thought I deserved sympathy when I posted our illness record in March. Unfortunately I didn't realize what more I was in for.
Enoch fought rotavirus for 3 weeks (which he WAS vaccinated for...what went wrong there?). That involved throwing up every night and incessant diarrhea. He was just coming out of that when a mysterious rash showed up over EVERY inch of his body. The Dr. wasn't sure what that was, but he did discover the rest of the clan had strep throat. So they all went on antibiotics for 10 days and thankfully finished that up the day we left for Grandma's. I thought that meant we'd be in the clear for a healthy vacation, but once again I overanticipated a healthy future. Within 2 days his throat had swelled with croup. After a series of visits to the Urgent Care, including one in the middle of the night, they sent us to Primary Children's Hospital. Some vacation! This time luck came through for us and we didn't have to admit him. And to top it all off, he cut two I-teeth that next weekend just as the croup was clearing up. There goes another bottle of Children's Motrin. I'm making no optimistic forcasts for the future; now I just take it as it comes.
Lucky for me, I got a trip to Women's Conference amidst all of this and BELIEVE ME, it was just the 'shot-in-the-arm' I needed!
Good old Aaron hit the 30 year old mark at the end of the month. He took it with style. His only remorse was, "you know you're getting older when you get a new suit instead of recreation gear for your birthday."

I feel for you when it comes to sick kids. I feel like this past month has been one thing after another for all of us. There was a time I though "well, we are just putting our time in and then we will be healthy for a while" but then I gave up on that logic because it is still going on. I heard womens conference was great. I am really going to try and make it next year.
By the way, that cake is amazing!
Thanks for the update. It was fun seeing the fam. while you were in Utah. I love the Quinn quote. It made me laugh, it felt good.
Best of luck the next month :)
I feel ya, we have been sick pretty consistently since January, including out-of-state hospital visits. Croup is the worst, Austin and Scotty both had it while I got bronchitis. Quinn is so big! Wush we could see you in person!

How on earth? I would love to make a great cake like that. Let me know if the directions are accessible online. Lots of love!
It was good to see you guys...even though Enoch left us sick in bed for 15 days...We can't wait for your June visit. Your amazing!
Tiff~
Killer Cake! You are hired to make my little girls' bday cake! That looks like a "polly pocket" dream castle! Glad to hear that you guys are doing better. No fun being sick. Quinn~ I had never thought of it that way... you have brought up a great point about love. We are all enlightened from this thought.
(by the way, I hear our friends Dax and Jennifer Wells are in your ward)
Have a good May!
Wow! I am so impressed. Is there anything you can't do, Tiff? Poor Enoch, and poor you. There's nothing worse than a miserable, sick baby. I hope you guys have a healthier month!
Hey Tiff! I stumbled accross your blog today thanks to Sherry's link. It was fun to read an update on what is going on in your lives. I can relate to so much of what you've written...Rotavirus is the absolute worst--Hewitt got such a bad case once that he needed IV fluids. He's actually got strep today--isn't it always something? Anyway, it was fun to get back in touch. Tamsen
Tiff:
How did you make it through those three weeks! Wow! I am complaining about just having a family fully of runny noses and sore throats. Wow! You are my hero!
